True Love Waits
I met Alan at a pivotal time in my life. I had just turned 18 and I still hadn't been kissed and had yet to have a boyfriend. Thing is I didn't actually meet Alan in person. He is from Scotland and I am from the good old US of A. We were introduced through a friend who lived in my town and Alan was a friend of her boyfriends who she had met while staying in Scotland.
At first we were just friends who talked once in a while, soon once in a while turned to every day. We would talk on the phone, online, through emails. Our feelings grew and we eventually confessed our love for each other. Problem is, we had thousands of miles of water keeping us apart.
We agonized over this problem for weeks, months, and then a year rolled around and I decided to go to Scotland to visit Alan. The most magical moment of my life was when i got off that plane and for the first time I got to actually hug Alan. I stayed in his apartment.
And while we did some things, we didn't have sex. I wanted to wait until I got married. After three weeks of bliss I had to leave and when I left Alan's arms for the last time I sat on the plane and cried the whole trip back. I felt as if I had lost part of my heart.
Two years later when I was 21 Alan decided it was his turn to come visit me. Once again I was in euphoria over the fact that someone I loved with all my heart was coming to see me. The first few days we were lazy because Alan had to get used to the time change. On the third day we went out at dusk for a strolling the country and at midnight when the sky was it's clearest and all we could see where the stars,
Alan got down on his knee and proposed and I accepted. He moved here to be by my side and to this day, 4 years later we are as happy as ever.
I am expecting a child in February, and I can't wait to start a new chapter of my life with my love.
