Can they tell you still love each other?
As a young person, I always admired older people who weren't ashamed to show they loved each other in public. Holding hands, rubbing her shoulders or scratching a difficult to reach itch just seems like the right thing to do for someone who is "half of you!"
So I committed to being public with my love for my wife throughout my marriage. We still hold hands and it stills excites me! We even do that in church! Often during worship, my wife will reach over and take my hand as we praise our Father God. You know, it seems to make me more aware of God's love for me as I realize that He placed my wife on earth just for me! WOW!
As an older leader in the church, I am aware of "Public Displays of Affection" and we are careful to be moderate in what we place on display but I think that often more is caught than taught as we teach our children about love, sex and marriage. Let them see that loving a spouse after many years of experience doesn't have to be boring or without passion and maybe they will be more inclined to follow the path of abstinence before marriage and enjoy the delights of romance, love and sex after the vows.
Let them see you still love her! It has its rewards every day even after 28 years!
