How To Lower Medical Costs

If the United States would implement the following changes to the medical care system, there would not be a need for socialized medicine and medical costs would return to normal levels.

1. Change the law back to the way it was 50 years ago, where hospitals could only be non-profit.  The primary reason medical costs are high is because it is big business and the hospitals are now owned or controlled by major money hungry corporations who cater to Wall Street instead of to the patients.  Outlaw for-profit hospitals.

2. Limit the amount that an individual can collect in a lawsuit from a doctor or nurse or other medical assistant unless the conduct was gross negligence or malicious.

3. Allow nurses, nurse practitioners and physicians assistants to practice general medicine without having to pay royalties or commissions or be working for a doctor.

4. Pass a law requiring medical schools to accept all students who have a premed GPA greater than 3.2.  The AMA controls the price of doctors by controlling the supply of doctors.  Allowing students who have a desire to be a doctor to actually become a doctor would eliminate the shortage of doctors and would increase the supply of doctors and thus lower the price that doctor’s charge.

5. Allow people to buy non-narcotic drugs without a prescription.  People can already order drugs from overseas on the internet.  This sends American dollars overseas.  Why not make it legal to buy non-narcotic drugs from American pharmacies so that Americans can keep their money in the United States?

6. Allow labs that do CT Scans, ultra scans and other scans and specialized tests, to them and give their interpretation without a having a prescription from doctor and without having to pay a radiologist.  These technicians are trained and actually have more experience than the radiologists in interpreting the scans and tests.  Allow the technicians and labs to give scans to the public on a walk-in basis.  Why pay a radiologist who never even looks at the scan but simply charges for being associated with the lab?

These changes would make it so that those who go into medicine do it because they care about people, not because they want to be rich.  This would attract the kind of people into medicine that people need during their time of illness.

Write your congressman and senators and the President and lets change America for the better!
