Evening Devotional for Couples
My husband and I have been reading a devotional book called "NightLight" by James and Shirley Dobson. It's packed with interesting stories each evening that pertain to married couple;, a section called "Just Between Us" where you and your spouse answer the questions asked- such as "Are you happy in our marriage?", "What can I do to make life easier for you?", "Do you remember when you knew you loved me for the first time?", "How did God show you I should be your life partner?" ...
Then there's a short prayer that pertains to the story just read.
On Sunday, the page is slighter shorter because that day already gears your mind towards devotions and God.
We try our very best to read this together each night, before we go to bed. We take turns; I read the story one night, my husband the other. It's a nice way to unwind from the long day, becoming intimate in a spiritual way. Sometimes we're so exhausted and all we want to do is crash. But a quiet "Nightlight" spoken, is all it takes to pick up the book and start reading- and usually this awakens us enough to finish the devotional for that night.
If you're looking for an interesting, short devotional book to share with your spouse, to further invite God into your marriage and into your bedroom, this is it. You can find their book in most family bookstores. They also have out, "Nightlight for Parents" which I haven't been privileged to read yet.
