anticipation
He wakes up at 4 o'clock in the morning...he can't sleep and feels very restless. His eyes adjusting to the darkness of his room, he sees his suitcases sitting by his bedroom door ready to go. They were packed 3 days ago when he bought his plane ticket to Pittsburgh and was anticipating what to pack for a West Virginia summer. He gets up, turns on his light and starts to write a poem to his true love whom he will see later that day. His friend hears some noises coming from his room so he peeks in and says "good morning Mike".
Mike can only smile because the dream of his lifetime is really going to happen TODAY!! He walks into the kitchen and looks around...trying to remember what snacks he wanted to take to keep him from eating horrible airplane food. Now it's time for his shower, he walks in there and strips down in front of the mirror...he starts flexing because he wants to look pumped up for her, he practices a few different smiles and what he would say to her. Ahhhhh the shower feels so good and starts to relax him quite a bit now, standing there with his hands up against the wall and the water pouring over his head as he looks down at the drain.
He pictures her standing there with him and he starts to smile, looking up at the shower head, opening his mouth and letting the water run in and out. He is done showering now and wraps the towel around him, walking back into his bedroom to get his clothes; he wonders what she would want to see him in. He puts on his boxer briefs and his ankle socks and starts to laugh thinking about how nervous he feels. He puts on his jean shorts and a black t-shirt, puts on his Nikes and ties them up...the whole time thoughts of her run through his mind. He is ready to drive to the airport now, he says bye to his friends and family and they all wish him luck, because they know how much this day means to him.
It takes a few hours to get there and he gets his luggage checked in, and then parks his car in the long term parking because his round trip ticket is good for 2 weeks. They finally call for his plane to board, he almost runs to the gate. His heart is already pounding fast while his mind keeps going over pictures of her...her hair, eyes, mouth, everything.
The plane takes off and he looks out the window at all the beautiful scenery from above and thinks of her and all her beauty...he pulls out pictures of her and her son to show to the old man sitting next to him. The man says congratulations on such a beautiful family and all he can do is smile so big and breathe out "thank you". After a few hours on the plane it finally lands in Pittsburgh and his cousin is going to pick him up so he will have time to rehearse what he wants to say, going over it in his mind over and over.
He walks off the plane and heads into the terminal, but he doesn’t see his cousin anywhere. Grrrrrrr he thinks to himself, he must've forgot!! He looks off in the distance and then looks harder, wow he thinks, that girl looks just like her...he starts walking and he glances over there again. OMG!!
That's her, that’s her!!! Their eyes won't leave each other and he feels really warm, he is so nervous and everything he rehearsed so far has just left his memory...neither has walked closer to each other yet. All of a sudden he starts to run towards her, not thinking anything except getting to her. He wraps his arms around her waist as she smiles so big at him, he lifts her up and smiles back. Still holding her in his arms...with her arms around his neck, she’s leaning down towards his mouth as he’s looking up at her.
