Abortion-NOT an option!
Abortion. Someone speaks this simple little word and boy do the sparks fly. All around swirls the controversy-is it really wrong? What if? Shouldn't a woman have the right to choose?
Most combatants, supporting the decision to choose, come back with, "What if a woman were raped, and she becomes the victim of AIDS. Not only her, but her child. She's a single woman, she's going to school, she has no time for a baby. Shouldn't the woman have a right to choose an abortion in this case?"
The answer-no. Why should she have the right to choose to end her baby's life?
I was watching a brief clip on "The View" yesterday, concerning these pet detectives who bust people keeping 100-200 animals in their home, not properly caring for them, keeping them in cages all day. And there was this one dog that was crippled. It had lost its two back legs. When the pet detectives discovered this pooch, they brought it, along with others, to the Pet Humane Services Department, where it was adopted out. The new owners had constructed a "wheelchair" contraption so that this dog could function quite well, using the "wheels" as its back legs to get around.
And it brought to my mind all those babies being slain every day because they're not normal, they're a burden to society, they're not wanted, they're inflicted with the AIDS virus. And I thought, if a crippled dog can receive a home in a kind family, how much more important is an unborn child? Surely there must be a family also inflicted with the AIDS virus, who could take this precious little bundle in.
In research for this article I came across several helpful websites. In a world of "Do it if it feels good", I was pleasantly surprised to find there are celebrities who are speaking out against abortion.
Madonna said:
"I was stunned when I saw on the ultrasound a tiny, living creature spinning around in my womb. Tap-dancing, I think. Waving its tiny arms around and trying to suck its thumb. I could have sworn I heard it laughing."
Kathy Ireland says, "I used to be pro-choice."
While appearing on the TV show "Politically Incorrect," Kathy Ireland participated in a debate about abortion "rights" and whether or not Florida should approve "Choose Life" license plates. Kathy is against abortion and she defended babies in the womb by saying: "I was once pro-choice and the thing that changed my mind was, I read my husband's biology books, medical books, and what I learned . . . At the moment of conception, a life starts. And this life has its own unique set of DNA, which contains a blueprint for the whole genetic makeup. The sex is determined. We know there's a life because it's growing and changing."
Brooke Shields, Actress and Supermodel:
"Too many people use abortion as a form of birth control. And that's very wrong. I could never, ever have an abortion."
Actress, Margaret Colin, has appeared in Three Men and a Baby, as well as several other films.
A pro-life activist since the eighth grade, Margaret credits her parents with empowering her and her siblings to promote pro-life values. At a Congressional Briefing in Washington DC on July 17, 2002, Margaret spoke about abortion.
"We marched here to support all women and to protest the violence against them, legislated by Roe v. Wade. And while many will remember the 40 million [aborted] American children that were never born, I want us to also remember the 25 million women and girls in America today who have personally experienced an abortion. And we remember the women who have been rendered infertile or died from legal but lethal abortions…This is violence against women…This is the failure of our American society to help and protect women. The 1970's women's movement robbed us of our political birthright by changing the feminist platform to support abortion…Abortion hasn't fixed the litany of problems that women were promised would be resolved."
Listen to what women who've had an abortion say--the real story...
“I was an emotional wreck. The following day I was empty, sad, numb. I knew that day I had made a huge mistake. I wish with all my heart I would have done things differently.”
CARRIE CAMILLERI
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
“I was 18 when I got pregnant. At three months pregnant, I had an abortion. About seven years later… my heart broke. I was so overcome with grief. How could I have taken the life of my unborn child?”
TEWANNAH AMAN
FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA
“I was told that I would be out for eight minutes and I would feel only a little discomfort afterwards. They lied,it ruined 10 years of my life.”
MAE ABBOTT
LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA
Sonya had an abortion and advises other women, “Don't do it. Regret of a permanent decision is like watching a sad movie over and over again and hoping the ending will change – but it never will. As Whitney Houston sang in a song, “Don't Throw Away Your Miracle!”
SONYA KAYE
LAKE STEVENS, WASHINGTON
“I was deceived because I was not told the truth about what an abortion means to the life of an unborn baby. I was not told that at 10 weeks (which is when I had my abortion) my child was already fully formed. I was made to believe that I was doing something that was as natural as going to the dentist for a teeth cleaning.”
STEPHANIE WILLIAMS
RIDGECREST, CA
“After the first abortion, I did get more depressed. I developed a very angry character; I became very violent. After the second abortion, I really didn't notice a change. By the third, I had really low self-esteem, and after the fourth I became extremely promiscuous and self-destructive. Throughout the years, with each abortion, I became more and more depressed and I gained more and more weight.”
CECILIA GOMEZ
TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA
“The suction machine was turned on, causing tremendous pain. I was frightened, it hurt so much. I wanted to scream. I wanted it to stop. I suddenly knew there was a baby inside. They were killing my baby!”
MICHAELENE JENKINS
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA
“Growing and maturing in a relationship with God has taken the pain from my past sins. Jesus alone is the only Healer of our hurts. Going through the grieving process for my child, as you would for anyone you've lost to death, is very important. For those that have had multiple abortions, your sin is not worse than my abortion of one. Sin is sin. Ask
God for forgiveness and repent. He sees them (sins) no more.”
JENIECE LEARNED,
MERCER, PENNSYLVANIA
“Having an abortion was the biggest, most tragic mistake of my life. If there is anything I can ever say or do that would change a woman's or man's abortion-bound course, I will do it.”
CARNA SPINELLA
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON
“If you abort your child, this child will haunt you the rest of your life because no other child can replace him. Your problems will multiply, not disappear. Talk to others who have had abortions, who have chosen not to abort, who have
found other ways to give life instead of death to their children. Abortion is wrong. Even if you don't believe that for sure, wouldn't it be smarter to err on the side of life? Abortion is irreversible – once it's done, you have no more options.”
MARGARET CARSON
MEDFORD, OREGON
“I was told I had ‘caught it' at a great time because it was just a tiny mass of tissue (4-6 weeks). Boy, was I deceiving myself! What ignorance I was in.”
LISA AND WILL WINDHAM
TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA
“Two weeks after the abortion, I went into labor. I staggered into the bathroom. And there, with my husband beside me, I delivered a part of my baby the doctor had missed. It was the head of my baby. . .” “I'll wake up in the middle of the night, thinking I hear a baby crying. And I still have nightmares in which I am forced to watch my baby being ripped apart in front of me. I simply miss my baby. I constantly wake up wanting to nurse my child, wanting to hold my child. And that's something the doctor never told me I would experience.”
LORI NERAD - former national president of Women Exploited by Abortion
“I know millions of women across this country feel as I do about abortion. We all somehow know deep down inside that we alone made a horrible decision and no coined phrase about choice and rights or the denial of biological and fetal facts can ever erase the truth. For we as mothers instinctively know during those still moments of aloneness, that we ended the life of a separate human being growing inside of each and every one of us.”
SUSAN CARPENTER-MCMILLAN
PASADENA, CALIFORNA
“Abortion destroys self-worth and dignity. I bought into the idea that abortion was simply a matter of choice. I used abortion as birth control until after my fourth abortion. I felt inside that this action has to be wrong. I wish I had given more thought to the abortions I had. If just one person had said, ‘Star, what you're doing is wrong,' it might have changed the destiny of my life.”
STAR PARKER
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
“Please understand that by aborting your unborn child, that does not make the baby go away. Your baby will be in your heart until you die. After abortion – the guilt, shame and loneliness is horrible. Once you abort, you cannot go back and change it.”
LISA BURROUGHS
BUENA PARK, CALIFORNIA

So we know it's wrong, but what are we going to do about it? We can VOTE! President Bush has done something about it. When the ban against Partial Birth Abortion crossed his desk, he signed it. Why? Because it's a horrendous, awful, stomach wrenching process. One, running candidate John Kerry didn't sign.
Here's how the procedure goes:
From the age of 5 months on, guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby's leg with forceps. The baby's leg is pulled out into the birth canal. The abortionist delivers the baby's entire body, except for the head. The abortionist jams scissors into the baby's skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the hole. The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child's brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed.
Think about it! As a mother of a six month old, and having heard the joy of my little girls' cry at birth and seeing her enter the world, all wrinkled, pink and wet, instantly alert, gazing into her mother's eyes, I can't imagine the cries that fill the room of the clinic(sometimes if the procedure hasn't gone well or as expected, the baby will scream in agony)- cries of horrible pain. The procedure sounds very mechanical here, but put yourself in that room, next to the abortionist performing this horrible murder. Listen to the cries coming from the baby. Not just fetal tissue now is it? Since when does fetal tissue wrinkle up its red face and scream so loud the abortionist have to cover the painful cries with loud music and white noise, so the young girls next door aren't frightened into handing their lives over to them?

Pro-Choice say that this infanticide is carried out to protect the life of the mother, or to destroy a child that has a physical impairment. If that is true, than why does it take 3 to 5 days of extreme pain for the women to get prepared for the procedure. That's right, it takes 3 to 5 days to prepare the women for this so called life saving act of infanticide.
Dilating the cervix can take 3 to 5 days. You may notice the sticks like things around the baby (a total of twelve were found with the baby). They are called seaweed-type laminaria, they swell up like tampons. They are inserted into the cervix a few at a time over this 3 to 5 day period. Each successive day, a few more are placed, until the cervix is properly dilated to perform the PBA. What they won't tell you are the complications that can occur with this unnatural dilatation of the cervix:
It is very painful.
Possible infection can harm the women.
Incompetent Cervix can be a long term problem, making it difficult for the women to have children in the future.
The complications to the women during the procedure are life threatening in of itself and are very real. The uterus can be perforated, causing hemorrhaging, amniotic fluid embolism, life long mental anguish are only but a few. Ask your self, is this a truly life saving procedure, or is it just another means of abortion?
In the real world, when a mother's life becomes endangered during pregnancy, a C-section or induced labor are performed.
It is difficult to see, but the brutality of this procedure is unbelievable. This abortionist traumatically tore off the umbilical cord and his penis, and surgically shaved off the baby's buttocks so the he would bleed to death before his brains were sucked out after a hole was made at the base of the baby's skull. Take a close look at this baby, you may notice that he has all of his fingers (and his toes, even though you can't see them), and there is no cleft lip, no facial signs of mental illness. This baby had no outward signs of having any physical problems. This baby was killed at the convenience of the mother.
Listen to this story-
A nurse by the name of Brenda Shafer worked in an abortion clinic for three days. During these three days she had assisted in more than one partial birth abortion. In a letter to Congressman Tony Hall she described her experience. This is what she had to say about one mother's emotional state.
"The woman wanted to see her baby, so they cleaned up the baby and put it in a blanket and handed the baby to her. She cried the whole time, and she kept saying, 'I'm sorry, please forgive me.' I was crying too. I couldn't take it. In all my professional years I had never experienced anything like this."
"...The baby's body was moving. His little fingers were clasping together. He was kicking his feet. All the while his little head was stuck inside. Dr. Haskell took a pair of scissors and stuck them into the back of the baby's head, and the baby's arms jerked out in a flinch, a startle reaction, like a baby does when he thinks he might fall...."
Probably the only reason the baby didn't cry out aloud was because it's head was yet in its mother's uterus.
Ron Fitzimmons, the executive director of the National Coalition of Abortion Providers, has admitted that he had lied during an interview on "Nightline". During that interview he himself stated that partial birth abortions are rare, and only performed to save a woman's life or to prevent damage to her reproductive organs if the baby is severely disformed. He now admits that it is commonly performed on healthy women with babies that have nothing wrong with them.
As horrible as partial-birth abortion is, let me make it clear that any act of abortion is murder. It's as horrible and unacceptable as a teenager gunning down his classmate, a husband beating his wife to death with a hammer, a mother slamming her baby's head against the wall until he bleeds to death, euthanasia on elder parents... and yet it happens every day..and they have no say in whether they want to live or not.
Let me ask you. What right do we have to play God?
