Review on Garfield, the Movie
This movie is as endearing as it gets about the loveable, fat, sarcastic kitty you know and love from the newspaper funny pages.
Now he's famous, witty as ever and still picks on Odie- can we hear it for Garfield?
This movie is excellent for children, though I should caution parents on the use of slang language, twice I believe throughout the movie. It's so brief you probably won't even notice, but I would recommend purchasing the TV Guardian if you're concerned.
I was privileged to be with my family this Thanksgiving and we watched Garfield, yet again and roared with laughter. This movie will have you and your children in stitches from Garfield switching his food, liver flavored hash to Jon's Hash-in-a-dash, to siccing Jon on a mouse hunt. It's good clean hilarity for the entire family!
The movie opens with Garfield taken in as Jon Arbuckle's new pet, as a kitten. Through the series of clips of Garfield growing and maturing into the snobbish, self-centered cat that he is, you can't help but smile.
Garfield loves his life! Eating lasagna until he's sick to his stomach, watching TV on his favorite easy chair, sleeping as long as he wants...
Then his life is rudely disrupted when, on a visit to the vet, Jon becomes the proud owner of- a dog!
From there it's a tail spin of Garfield plotting Odie's demise to rushing to his rescue when a villain type character pursues him as a money making object.
The movie wraps up with Jon and the cute veterinarian (Jennifer Love Hewitt) admitting their attraction to each other from high school, becoming a couple and sealing it with a kiss.
And Garfield and Odie live peacefully ever after-NOT!
