Our First Christmas
We had only been dating one month, but already I felt something special between us, that we were destined to be together. So this, our first Christmas together, was an exciting and joyful time.
We'd had a busy day of visiting his family and mine and now, with Christmas nearly over, it was time for us to exchange gifts. Joe went upstairs to get his gifts for me and I waited for him downstairs in the basement. While I was waiting I looked through some CDs and found "Somebody" by Depeche Mode. I love that song; so I put it on to listen to it.
Moments later Joe came downstairs and we exchanged gifts and honestly, I don't remember what the gifts were. But what I do remember, and will treasure forever is his Christmas card. In it he had written the words to "Somebody". What??? There was no way he could have heard me playing that song! How could it be that we were both thinking of the same song at the same time? Magical!!!
Six years later we danced to that song at our wedding. It is our song and it embodies our love so beautifully and who we are for each other.
We've been married for seven years now and together for 14! Joe is as much today my "Somebody" as he was 14 years ago on that night, our first Christmas together!
