Review on 'The Princess Diaries 2-Royal Engagement'
What a charming sequel to the first "Princess Diaries" release in 2001. In my opinion it was better than the first, and that's saying alot. I personally can't stand sequels that use different characters than the first- I guess it's a pet peeve of mine. But you'll not find that in this great second. Even "Fat Louie" has made a comeback in this great sequel.
In the "Royal Engagement" film, Mia is 18, has recently graduated college and returns home to Genovia to find that she must make a choice yet again, this time of the man she will marry so that she may inherit the throne that her grandmother is leaving her.
Shortly into the search she finds herself in an arranged marriage to an English suitor. While he is a true gentleman to the core and they are comfortable with each other, they recognize that there is no spark, no passion, no love between them. But regardless, they agree to the wedding to save the throne, all the while Mia's heart secretly pining for Sir Nicholas Devereaux, her nemesis and nephew of schemer, Viscount Mabrey who sets out to rule through his nephews royal title.
Nicholas is older now, very attractive and his quiet commanding presence beckons to the young woman within her that desires to be romanced and to experience true love.
But there is one condition to her inheritance. She must find and marry a man of royal blood within 30 days.
While she finds Nicholas appealing, she cannot force herself to consider marriage to him and prepares her wedding to comfortable-old-shoe Andrew Jacoby.
It's a whirlwind of questions from here. Will Mia settle for marriage to a man she doesn't love and forsake the one she does? Will Queen Clarice give her hand in marriage to doting bodyguard, Joe who has pledged his love?
Will Mia marry in the time frame demanded or will she lose the throne?
