Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of the Christ' wins Award!

My husband and I tuned into the "People's Choice Awards" last night, January 9, 2005, just as it was winding to a close. Three movies were up for a vote for Favorite Movie Drama- "Bourne Supremacy", "The Passion of the Christ" and "Ray"

My husband and I were both pleasantly thrilled at the thunderous applause that was heard for Mel Gibson's, "Passion" movie. I remembering telling my husband that it would be so awesome if the "Passion" would win. It would show Hollywood that Gibson didn't need them in order to release a controversial faith based drama of our Lord's suffering and to be successful.

We waited with bated breath when finally the winner was announced- "The Passion of the Christ!"

The applause was startling as Mel took to the stage. He was handed the beautiful glass trophy, his speech very humble and straight forward.

"When you circumvent the system, I depended on you, and you were there," Gibson told the great crowd at the People's Choice Awards in Pasadena, California. Ending his speech with "God Bless You," as he walked off the stage.

I was so happy for him, and even more so for the television audience that got a glimpse of what our Saviour had done for us. A mixed religious group that saw what life is really about and why we Christians feel so passionate about our faith.

Thank God for men and women who are willing to risk their careers to get the Gospel message out into a lost, hurting, confused world.

"The Passion of the Christ" is now on DVD and VHS--check your local video store or family bookstore.  Or go to   www.thepassionofthechrist.com .
