Acceptance
I've always had a problem with the way I looked. My mother would always say, give it time and the right man will come along. It was hard to believe since I've never had a really boyfriend. Well I was starting college now so it would be a new start. My first year at Notre Dame was great straight A's, but an F in the love department. All my dates were horrible it seemed hopeless; that was until Nick.
I'd known Nick all through high school, and we had been pretty good friends. I was shocked to see him here at Norte Dame. Nick, “what are you doing here, I thought you were at Duke? I'll show you around the place, so you won't get lost.” I was just so excited to finally have a friend here. Did I mention, all through high school I had a crush on Nick?
It was finals time, so Nick and I went out for coffee and to study. I really don't know how we got off topic, but we started talking about our love Lives. He said, “Well I haven't been so lucky in the ladies department.” “Me too, I mean in the love department”; we both laughed. Something came over me and, I told Nick about my crush on him. “Really Liv, I've always had a crush on you too”, Nick replied. I fell out of my chair. “So what are we going to do about it?” I said. “How about a date Liv?” Nick replied. “I would love too,” I replied.
Well I ran to the mall and bought a new outfit and shoes. Nick came to pick me up; “I have a surprise for you,” Nick said. “What is it?” I asked. “We are going to the movies,” Nick said. In my mind I'm like - that's not anything new.
We arrived at the theater got our tickets and sat down. “Nick what movie is playing?” I asked. “Wait and see Liv.” It was the “Sound Of Music”. In tenth grade he revealed that was one of his favorite movies, and I think that was when I fell for him. Out of the blue, Nick mentioned the incident I remembered, when we were in the tenth grade. I was in shock. I wondered, “God are you trying to tell me something?” It was great.
Nick and I have been dating for about six months now. Everything is going amazingly. We can talk about everything, from our feelings to God. Well it was around Valentines Day, and we have been dating for six moths. I don't really care too much about v-day. He took me to the lake around sun set. “Liv my father told me that when I grow up I'm going to do something special. I have! It was finding you! Baby what I'm trying to say is I love you. I love you with every part of my being.”
Tears ran down my face; I love nick. That was the best day of my life. WE have been dating for a year in a half. “Liv lets take a trip back home.” “That's sounds great.” Well we got to Missouri. I saw the family; it was great. “Lets go see the high school, Liv.” Nick said. “Nick its 9 o'clock, its closed.” I replied, “Lets just go.” Nick said.
TO my surprise it was open and their were candles very where. “What's going on Nick?” “Lets go see our old biology class,” Nick said. I was freaking out. We got there and music was playing with roses, and candles. Nick took me to our old seats. “Remember when you said, you fell for me here Liv?” Nick said. “Well this would be the perfect place to propose.” I lost it. Nick got down on one knee and said "I love Liv Elisabeth and I thank God that he has blessed me with you, and I couldn't have dreamed of someone like you Would you please give me that honor of calling you my wife?" I screamed, “Yes!” I thought the whole world heard it. Now I can't wait till June when I can finally marry the man I love. I guess my mother was right.
