My Wife, My Life

I don't remember the exact date I met her.  All I know is that my life was changed ever since.  Little did I realize then that just as my life changed on that day, my life could change again.

We were young when we met—very young.  Our earliest photo included a well-loved yellow bird (Big Bird from Sesame Street) holding us together at a birthday party.  Who knew we would meet again with different intentions, different feelings, different expectations, and different perspectives?  As a matter of fact, lots of things were different.

It was a phone call I received.  She wanted my thoughts on Switzerland.  I'll never forget how nervous I was.  I could not let her down.  She needed information.  I needed her.

Years later, she caught my eye in a way that no other girl could.  I was older with responsibilities.  I was a teenager looking for an experience.  She became the object of my obsession.  She became the one.  She was attractive with long, dark hair.  Her figure was exact to my every desire.  Her interest in my life and daily activities was energizing.  The smell of her presence caused me to many times lose track of time and even my composure.   She was exactly what I was looking for—someone who made me feel like I was the lucky one.

Years have past—she has become my wife.  She has given me a life.  We have been married for 5 years; we have a beautiful daughter, a comfortable home, and reliable jobs.  When did this happen?  How did this happen?  What did I do to deserve this?

My life changed today.  She shared a secret I want to share with no one.  She invited someone into our lives for a brief while—a moment in time that would later seem like an eternity.  When did this happen?  How did this happen?  What did I do to deserve this?   She was my wife.  She was my life.

When did my obsession end?  When did the attraction stop?  When did I lose her interest?  When was I able to resist her fragrance?  When did I run out of luck?  I just can't seem to remember the day all of this happened.

I once thought that the price of true love was more than any man could afford.  And for me, the price just went up.  I don't how much I gave to find it the first time but I am willing to pay it again.  After all, she is my wife.  She is my life.

I still don't remember the exact date we met.  All I know is that my life was changed ever since.  I do know one thing though, just as my life changed on that day, my life will change again.
