The basic thing for a successful marriage is affection and respect between the two partners. If you don't respect your spouse and are not affectionate towards him/her, don't even think about him/her being responsive to you. Temporary passion and physical attraction is likely to fade away sooner than you know but what keeps a marriage going on is romance between two souls, not merely two bodies. When you are spiritually in love with someone, you accept him/her with all his good and bad qualities and accept them and try to help your loved one overcome his/her shortcomings.
