When will I ever meet her?

Hi, I'm a 25-year-old male who has been keeping myself pure (virgin) and just waiting for God to bless me with the right woman.  I'm a firm believer that when one is a true Christian, that God will bless him or her with the right person without one having to really do anything.  It gets kind of hard sometimes-just "waiting."  Sometimes it's even a little discouraging because it just doesn't seem like anyone's in the path, but I know she is.  It's just hard I guess, but all I can do is wait on the Lord.  What do you guys think?  Do you think one should just wait and do nothing and let the Lord work it out, or do you think one should do something?  To me, the latter option is very disheartening because we don't know how to find the "perfect" match for us, but God does.

Comments From Readers

A reader says ...     Those things are true indeed.  Thank you for the advice.  God will direct if we love to do His will.  I do believe that God has given us free will, and at the same time for those of us who in earnest, want to do His will, I believe He will ensure we don't make a mistake.  Thank you very much for your input and may God bless you.

A reader says ... God wants you to take action.  Jesus said, "I was hungry and you fed me, I was naked and you clothed me ...".  Jesus did not say, "You were hungry and I fed you, You were naked and I clothed you ..."  Jesus is waiting for Christians to do His work.  Jesus could turn the rocks into children of Abraham, but Jesus chooses not to.  Instead Jesus is counting on Christians to do His work.  In Colosians some had quit working because they thought Jesus was coming back soon.  Paul exhorted them and told them to get a job, Paul said if you don't work, you shouldn't eat.  Satan fools Christians into thinking we are robots on auto-pilot and we just need to pray and read our Bibles.  On the contrary Jesus said, after he rose from the dead, that those who do not feed the poor, and clothe the naked those who don't have works will be cast into the lake of fire.  Paul said to singles, that if you burn with passion then you should get married.  Paul didn't say if you burn with passion, God will send you a mate.  Read your Bible and see that there are maybe 10 verses in the Bible that indicate that God might supernaturally direct our life to exactly what he wants us to do each day.  But if you look closely those verses were poetic in Psalms or Proverbs or referring to God directing us in moral way, but the entire rest of the Bible is God pleading with us to give up sin and live to please him.  But for some reason we like to think that God is going to supernaturally direct us.  What it means is if we follow God's advice in the Bible, God will direct our paths, because we are using God's roadmap - not because he is supernaturally making us make decisions but rather because the Bible is an instruction book and if we follow it God is indirectly controlling us.  If we follow the Bible real closely we won't get married because Paul felt pretty strongly against marriage.  But it was because Paul thought that Christ was comiming back in his lifetime.  I would encourage you to sign up at BigChurch.com and meet some Christian girls.  I talked my daughter who is 20 into signing up there.  Remember God gives us choices and God directs us through the Bible, through our family, through others and through the Holy Spirit through our consience.  But God is counting on us to be wise and pick the right mate to marry and God is counting on us to Evangelize the world and consistently love those around us.  The way we show God we love him, if you study the New Testament, you will find is primarily through works, not church and Bible study.  The church is to equip us to do the works.   I know God will direct you to the right girl if you will look for her.  God does give wisdom if we ask and if we do our homework and do our part.  God does answer prayer if we pray earnestly and then go do our part in answering the prayer.  If we don't study for a test, I don't think God will usually help us make an A supernaturally.  God Bless!
