Lifelong Friends
My husband and I grew up together. From first to 8th grade we only were friends--but yet we confided our secrets in each other. He was my best friend. Once high school started, we drifted apart--but because we went to the same church we still saw each other.
We started dating after going off to college. He went to Trinity Christian in IL, and I went to Cornerstone U in MI. We were only three hours apart, but we didn't get to see each other very much--mainly once or twice a month. However he always called me every night and loved to send little love notes and poems.
After dating 3 years, I figured he would propose soon--but did not know when. The night came of my birthday and I thought for sure it would be. However it was not, Then his birthday passed, and both of our graduation nights passed. I was waiting and thinking that he would never propose.
One summer night, July 15 he called me and told me that he was on his way up to see me. I didn't think anything of it as he was supposed to come up that weekend, but we weren't sure what day.
He arrived at my aunt's house (where I was living for the summer) and came in. He greeted me with a kiss, and a bear hug. I was so excited to see him as I hadn't seen him for about a month. Since I had just gotten back from work (I work at a gymnastics center) I had to shower, so he said he'd back in 30 min to pick me up--and he took off to get his "car cleaned, gassed, and washed up). When I got out of the shower, I saw a beautiful pink dress) hanging in my room with a little note that instructed me to put it on. I tried it on and it fit perfectly. Tucked on the hanger was a pearl necklace, which stated that I was his pearl. I put it on and I must say looked gorgeous!! I headed up stairs to show my aunt--but they were gone (which seemed strange, but I was so excited to spend a night with my boyfriend).
I go back downstairs and put my hair up, and I hear someone come in. I continued doing my hair, when someone wraps a blindfold around my face (I was stunned and screamed--not knowing what was going on) I was then lead upstairs and outside. I was then told to sit down-- It was a horse and buggy!! The blindfold was removed and I saw my love sitting there on his knee on the bench. He then stated that he has loved me since we were little, and his love will never change, and would i do him the honor of becoming his wife. I said yes!! It was totally unexpected. My aunt and uncle have it all on video--they had been hiding somewhere and recording it outside.
