Melancholy Moment
Melancholy Moment
Watch the leaves fall from the trees, like raindrops from the sky.
The Autumn breeze is such reprieve from Summer's hot and dry.
Crisp, cool air runs through my hair, I start to wonder why,
the life that God had planned for me, has surely passed me by.
What I don't get, is that, I know, it could be so much worse.
I can't believe that this is it, it's like some twisted curse.
A daughter, sister, mother, wife, I've failed at every task.
My grandson doesn't know my face, I wear shame like a mask.
I yearned to be the perfect Aunt, while caring for my niece,
I didn't even do that well, the child has no peace.
In this dark and lonely world, my soul and body live,
I cry out to my Lord and say, "Please one more time forgive!"
"Oh daughter, you've had many chances, many times I've tried,
to give the life I planned for you, but every time you've lied."
