5 years

Coming up on my 5-year anniversary I wanted to write something that was not only original but specific to our lives.  Kind of going over what has transpired over the past 5 years.  Anyway, I spent a few days trying to quickly capture where we have come from since we met. After it was done I was rather surprised at how great this poem came out.  What I was going to do with this is surround it with pictures of our past that coincide with the poem and then frame it with the poem in the middle.  By the time anyone reads this I will probably be on my 7th year.  So anyway… enjoy.

Here is a poem that I wanted to write,
To a woman who I fell in love with almost overnight

I had long hair, and so did you.
Looking so beautiful, that I had to pursue.

I was 24 and met you during orientation.
Offered you a spree to open conversation.

I bet Ryan a pizza, that 14 days later, you would be mine.
Then ate like a king in two weeks time.

Little did we know what we had started,
5 years of love that will never be discarded.

You endured my hardships and my debt
Making ends meet by de-icing a propjet

In Arkansas, we lived, in a bug filled shack
Fighting them off as if under attack.

Several years later we decided to marry.
Realizing life with out each other would be too scary.

You and I have seen so many things.
From Jamacia to Munich, Seattle and New Orleans.

We owned cars that only go from A to B.
And pets from Malina to Saranac, to Izzie and BB.

1,825 days later here we are.
Did you ever think, we would come so far.

43,800 hours have passed us by since that beautiful day.
Now we have 2 dogs, 1 house, and one dead fly that that passed away.
(hehe, back porch – tut is still there)

2,628,000 minutes that I have cherished in marriage with you.
5 years, 60 months, 1825 days of love that's true.

Happy 5 year Anniversary

5 wonderful years, 60 months, 1825 days, 43,800 hours, 2,628,000 minuets,
15,768,000 seconds
Not one second went by that I didn't love you more than the second before.
