God only gives us what we can handle right?
My husband and I were married in late October. We were set to take a honeymoon to Edisdo Island, SC ... from the moment we left the church everything went wrong. We stopped in Richmond, VA for the "first night". A friend had bought us a night in a very nice hotel in the "honeymoon suite".
When we arrived at the hotel to get the key to our room, they had no record of a reservation for us. To keep it short, we didn't get the honeymoon suite...but one of their smallest units. The next morning we continued to drive. When we crossed the border into NC, we stopped to get gas. A nice man handed me a stuffed animal and asked if I wanted to play a game...being 19 and naive, I said yes.
I had no idea what we were getting into. Having NEVER gambled in my life, this guy reeled us in. To make a long story short, we gambled away ALL of our honeymoon money. (roughly $3000 cash) The man saw how terrified it made us and how we were fighting (our first day married) that he gave us all of the money back plus an extra $100.
So, we gathered up our emotions and continued driving. We made it about 1 hour to our timeshare when the transmission to my car completely blew. We were stuck in the middle of NO WHERE. Luckily I had AAA and we got the car towed to get the transmission replaced...$3000 later on my credit card. So we started off our marriage already $3000 in debt.
We have been married 7 years now...things haven't changed, thing constantly go wrong, but for some reason, we stick together and make it through. Thanks to the loving care of our Heavenly Father.
