almost 60 and still single

Several years ago I submitted a writing because I never married and the only woman Sandra G. and how I will always remember her.  I am now nearing 60 years old, i still desire to be married, and I just wish I could get rid of the loneliness factor.

My apartment is so quiet sometimes at night when the refrigerator is humming it is the loudest noise in my apartment.  I just want to get the loneliness factor out of my life.

Trying to be friendly to people they sometimes act as if I am nothing but thin air and they look through me.  I used to be satisfied with the time available that I could use to read, but reading seems so useless now.

I still have not forgot the time i had such a good conversation with Sandra G.

A reader says ... Dear friend,

Who is Sandra G?  Is she still out there and available?  There's no reason to be lonely, my friend -- go find her!

Actually, I'm ahead of myself.  Do you know Jesus, my friend?  Pray to Him!  Tell Him all about your loneliness, and He will fill you up.  It says in His Word that if we seek first the Kingdom of Heaven, all else will be added to us.  Start there, I urge you!

Almost sixty.  You're still a young man with plenty of life left in you.  I had the privilege of watching my grandfather work through the painful separation from his first wife, as he laid her to rest in the grave.  Want to know how much they loved each other?  Fifteen kids, that's how much.  Maybe he too wondered if he'd ever be able to love again.  But in a year, the Lord provided wonderfully for him, giving him another helpmate.  And dear friend, he had almost twenty years on you when he took this step!

I firmly believe that if you talk to the Savior about this, He will provide.  Maybe He will provide you the blessing of a wife.  Alternatively, He may also provide you with the blessing of contentment in being single.  The Bible says that Godliness with contentment is great gain!

Do you go to church?  I encourage you to do so.  Find a Bible believing fellowship of true Christian believers.  Join yourself to them.  Immerse yourself in good fellowship and conversation with fellow believers, and just watch how the Lord is able to chase loneliness away.

I'll pray for you, my friend, and I sincerely wish you the best.  But please understand:  you're NOT alone.  Even if the room is empty and all you hear is the refrigerator, you are still not alone.  God is always there, and the Lord can fill your heart with an absolute sympthony with His presence if you trust in Him!

Blessings to you; I pray the Lord helps you find the happiness and joy your life needs, even as I pray He provides it for me!
