Initial Meeting
Being friends with your boyfriend/girlfriend, fiancé /fiancée, husband/wife is so important to the longevity of your relationship. Also not judging the book by its cover is another good one. When I was younger I would hear my mom always saying “It's good to be friends before you get together”. At the time I really didn't understand what she was going on about chalk it up to youth and the usual stubbornness. It all came back to me when I met the man of my dreams, oh I didn't know it yet! And it did come as a shock to me, but it happened none the less.
Talk about unexpected. When God has a plan, he has a plan. This is not a story of being engaged or walking down the aisle, and it's not post wedding either. This is a story of the seconds and moments before all the celebrations begin, before he pops the question, and you scream giddily or cry like you're the Niagara Falls.
When I first met my boyfriend of 2 years we were both working at the same institution in the medical field, only different departments. At first I took no notice of him cuz he was basically an unassuming kinda guy. He would often come to my department with work related cases then he would come just to hang and talk. I took no notice of this thinking he just felt comfortable here. It wasn't until my co-workers started ragging me about him that I realized they taught he had a thing for me. Yeah right I thought me-nah. Guys usually referred to me as cute and adorable I didn't figure those were qualities guys looked for in women, so I ignored them. This went on for months and during that time we both got to know each other very well and found out some startling similarities about each other. We realized that we were both Christians, love video games, etc. It was absolutely amazing but still I denied what was going on. We would go out together as “friends” constantly. Each denying to friends, family and ourselves what was really going on.
After months of this I fell for him and hard. He would turn out to be the first man I have EVER fallen in love with and the last. But at the time I didn't know how he felt about me. No matter what everyone was saying, it held no meaning if it didn't come from him. I from the old school! I was not gonna make a move unless he did. Ironically I didn't have to, the discussion that brought us together as a couple happened –simply by accident or GOD's design.
