What Causes A Husband To Look At Porn?
Why is it that some husbands struggle with looking at naked female pictures?
Here are a few reasons why some men like to look at pictures of the female body.
The main reason is that men think the female body is beautiful. In the Bible in Romans chapter 1, it teaches that God has given people a natural affection for the opposite sex. But God wants us to control our natural affection for the opposite sex.
Appreciating the beauty of the female is part of the sex drive that men have, and this admiration of the female body seems to increase as the testosterone level of the man increases.
Women do not seem to have the same admiration of the male body that men have for the female body.
God probably set men up this way, so they would desire to get married. Otherwise young men are very independent and would not be interested in settling down in marriage.
Young boys from before puberty on up in age, are intrigued by the female body and have a strong curiosity and appreciation of the beauty of the female body.
When a husband is not having sex regularly his testosterone level will increase and automatically cause him to look for sexual outlets and release of this excess emotional sexual energy. One way that a man can release sexual energy is by looking at naked pictures of females.
When a man is not happy with his wife, or his wife is not happy with him and his emotional and physical sexual needs have not been met, his body may automatically be looking for outlets for his excess sexual energy, and looking at naked pictures of beautiful females is a natural way he may try to release his sexual tension.
If he thinks his wife will not approve of him looking at naked pictures, he may begin looking at them in secret. If he is hiding looking at them from his wife, he may begin to feel guilty. Once he hides this, he may begin to feel he has nothing to lose to venture further into distancing himself from his wife and venturing out to finding other women.
If he is hiding looking at the porn, and he feels guilty, he will most likely become extremely critical of his wife. Finding fault with his wife and the children is a result of being unhappy from the guilt and a way of justifying his own conduct.
Another reason men may look at naked pictures is because in our culture nudity is forbidden and men are curious.
A Biblical definition of lust is to “covet things forbidden.” This definition comes from the Ten Commandments where it says, “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife.”
Married persons should save all sexually related activities for their spouse. Men and women need to stop doing secret sexually related things behind each other's backs. This includes watching TV shows, reading romance novels and looking at porn.
Anything we do in excess that is not for the glory of God can be considered sin. We need to eat and we do have sexual needs. So spending some time and money meeting these needs is glorifying to God.
Where do you draw the line between meeting our needs and being lustful?
If what we do helps us take care of our human needs so we can be more productive for God, then that is good. If we indulge and focus on gratifying our flesh instead of wanting to be good stewards of our body and time and energy, then it is sin.
For example, some might say that going out and spending lots of money at a fancy restaurant is sin since it is not necessary.
Similarly others might say that using MarriageRomance.com stories to add passion to a marriage is sinful, since it is not necessary.
And still others might say that spending money on candles, and romantic music and eating out and going to movies for the sake of enhancing romance in marriage is sin, since it is not necessary.
We are talking about why men like to look at pictures of women, it is only fair that we admit that the male appreciation of the female body is a natural desire (Romans 1). It is when the men covet the women in the pictures that it is sin.
The key to overcoming all the sins is living for Christ. Eternity is a reality. Only what is done for Christ here on earth will make a difference. God wants men to have self-control and reserve sex related functions for doing with his wife. Husbands should make a decision to save all sex related activities for when you are with your wife. You will enjoy your wife so much more this way and you will feel fulfilled this way.

I believe that all sexually related activity in a marriage should be agreed on and done together by the husband and wife.
I recommend that married couples try to do something together that would be exciting for them both, to replace the activities husbands and wives do alone. Soap operas, TV shows, looking a porn, romance novels, all may need to be replaced with activities that the couple will do together. Try walking and praying and hugging and kissing.
