Older woman
This was an assignment for Junior year English class. Spring 1989.
It all started last summer when I was working. There she was. I walked up to her and asked if I could assist her. She asked me for an air cleaner for her car. I showed her where the filters were but she said she needed the whole air cleaner not just the filter. She said she had lost it. We both laughed and I told her that she would have to go to the junk yard to get one. She left and returned after about a half hour to purchase the filter that fit inside. I put it into her car for her then I asked if she would like to go out sometime. She said yes!
We went out that night and I found out her age. I knew she was older but never imagined that she was 22. I looked at her strangely and then she asked me how old I was. I avoided the subject and didn't answer her question.
We dated a few more times and then I finally told her how old I was. She didn't say anything at first. One week later she told me she couldn't handle the age difference between us and didn't want to see me anymore.
I didn't see her much after that until one day about 8 months later. I saw her enter my place of employment. She asked for an application and started working there part-time. It was killing me. Every time I saw her my emotions were screaming!! I wanted to tell her how I felt but I couldn't because she now worked under me so I felt it couldn't work.
Then one night I decided to ask her to dinner and she said yes. We went out and I used all of my language skills and persuasiveness to convince her to date me again We finished dinner and I walked her to her car.
We kissed! It was wonderful. From then on sh never minded my age and we are still dating today.
Update….We were married in 1991 and will be celebrating our 17th anniversary next weekend.
