Sexuality in Christian Marriage

I know many of us have wondered about the level of sexuality in a christian marriage. Things like the following pop up all the time:

Is it ok to watch an "R" rated movie with your spouse?

Is watching those movies just for arousal correct in biblical terms?

Can we keep on hearing the curse words from these movies and not be bothered by those?

How can we please God in all we do including these issues?

The church that we are members of teaches us any type of R rated movies are wrong in the eyes of God.

I believe this site has some answers to those questions.

A reader says ...   praise God for the comment about violence and profaning the name of god in media. nudity and sexuality, if  depicted gently and respectfully, is consistent with a christ-following life. violence and profanity[the language of violence] has been tolerated by christians for too long[ especially by our men].i believe that this is a result of sexual repression. well-meaning men might attempt to create standards of modesty, but instead tolerate an environment of SUBLIMATED sexual violence. the most satanic examples of this phenomena are the many executions of women and girls in the middle east. we christians ourselves experienced this with witch-burnings in old europe. it is no surprise that beautiful girls were usually the ``witches``.godly sexuality can be open and, honest,as long as it is gentle and respectful.you know, `make love, not war`.my husband is laughing at me.....

Thanks.  Yes taking God's name in vain should bother us much more than sexual arousal in a movie.  And violence where someone is being treated unjustly should bother us much more than sexual arousal also.  We need to pray that there would be more moral erotic materials for married couples.  But until there are more we will just have to use the most moral ones we can find.  

The most important things in life are to walk justly, show mercy and walk humbly before our God.

Next is service, the good works we are called to do to be good neighbors.  

And equally important is to send the good news around the world - but without the legalism.  Blessed are the feet of those who bear the Good News.  We need to change our churches to get rid of the condemnation of acts that God does not condemn, because when we judge folks for things God does not judge them for, we are a stumbling block to them and we hinder them from accepting Christ as their Savior.

And without love for those we live with and work with and even love for our enemies (which translates into showing mercy when at all possible), without love, there is not much use in being a Christian.  So let's love each other and show mercy to each other and to the world for that is the way to please God.  Showing mercy is the way to be righteous in the New Testament.  Jesus said, "I desire mercy not sacrifice".

May God use this web site to teach Chrisians what is important in life and how to live a life that is pleasing to God.  You can't frequent this site and still be very judgemental towards others.  Amen, that is the way God wants it to be.  May God bless your marriages!  And may we all seek to glorify God with our lives and actually do the good works we are called to do and have fun and enjoy life while we serve God and others!
