All The Chocolate In The Fridge Is Mine: Blessings Of The Single Life
Waiting on God for the perfect timing for your marriage, but this is actually one of the best times for you to enjoy your single life to the fullest. I know that it seems like a tired cliché that married people tell single people in order to make them feel better, but I'm also a single gal, and I deeply appreciate these months when I have yet to be saddled with the obligation of managing a family.
Here are my five reasons why I like this time of my life:
1) This is the period when it's all about God and me.
The "game" is simplified, the "equation" does not need your brain to do a few somersaults. This is the time when you can dream big, and even reach these dreams, because you don't need to think about the baby's milk, or the kids' education bills. It's just you, God, and your needs as a single person. This season in life gives me more space to breathe, more space to live it to the full and enjoy the blessings the Lord showers on me.
2) My career decisions do not have to be dictated by what brings in the most money for milk.
My career decisions are anchored on what brings in the most fulfillment and the most money that I can either spend on myself, invest, or give away.
3) There's more room to give to others.
Being single allows your cash flow to be a lot less appropriated for needs. Extra cash could be given away to a friend in need. This act is so satisfying and lets you understand even further that God is our provider. When you're married, you have to prioritize your children's needs, so giving exuberantly may not be an option, unless you and your spouse are in agreement and are committed to live a lifestyle of giving.
4) I can sleep whenever I want to.
No worries about when to turn in, so that your spouse's sleep won't be disturbed by your lamp still left on. I can read up until the wee hours of the morning. I can turn night into day, if I wanted to, simply because I still can.
5) All the chocolate in the fridge is MINE.
If you are about to marry someone who loves chocolate as much as you do, savor these months! Because once you're married, your chocolates are HIS chocolates too. Bad news for all the chocoholics out there! Now THIS is my ultimate reason to be thankful that the wedding date is a little further away. :)
The single life isn't meant to be lived with a long face and a sense that it's a perpetually cloudy stretch of existence. Count your blessings; the single life was not meant to be lived in pain and agonizing that you should be married by now! Live life to the full: enjoy and squeeze the most out of your singlehood!
