Thoughts About True Love
Paul wrote in 1st Corinthians that, “love is patient, love is kind… love never fails.” This quote comes directly from the Bible. This biblical verse not only touched my heart, but gave me a goal I am wanting to reach in my own life. Love is what someone believes it to be. I found love and made it official on August 14, 2007.
Have you ever heard of the phrase, “love is blind?” Most people have. This must mean that it is a belief of many. Well, what does it mean when someone says, “love is blind?” If love is blind, one may argue to facilitate the meaning that love is eternal and that regardless of any negative outcome that love overlooks it. If love is blind it prevails all evil. However, everyone may not agree that, “love is blind.” Another common phrase is that, “love hurts.” Why is it that love has acquired this unpleasant metaphor? Self-experience could be an answer to this question. Most people, at some time in their lives, have been hurt by someone that they love. Is this because they have done something wrong or is it simply human instinct? Humans are full of error and often decide it is easier to give up on love than struggle through the hard times. Therefore, does love hurt or do people hurt? Many would say it is people who hurt because they fail to pursue this love that they have claimed. My question today, is why give up on the love of your life and not work through these hard times? My husband taught me a very valuable lesson, "The Lord will never put too much on us then we can't handle." Regardless of all the tough times and battles my husband and I have gone through, we always win the war because we have one another and we have our faith together. I am here today to persuade each of you to marry that special person in your life and keep the strong morals that are the bedrock of marriage. Like I previously stated, humans are full of error, but that does not mean that those certain errors define who the person truly is. Nobody is perfect but the Lord. However, the word perfection in my own definition is my husband. In my eyes, he has it all. What one of you may consider a fault or a flaw, I consider an asset and an attribute to his outstanding personality, strong faith in the Lord, his skills and physical complexion.
The Bible says, “love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:4). This love is present everyday and is given to all of those who believe in Jesus. This definition of love refers to the way God loves us. It is an example of how we are to mold ourselves and learn to return that love on such an elevated level. Paul also stated, “if I have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.” Love is what makes the world continue to grow and prosper. Without love, there would be no kindness, no happiness and none of the great memories we all have. Love is what created our world and what our world needs to carry on. Marrying my husband was the happiest day of my life because not only did I take my best friend's last name... we truly love one another. I have a loyal companion, someone to fight by my side for eternity, someone that I love and would die for, someone that I am not afraid to give my all to and someone who supports me in all aspects of my life.. The word "ME" is no longer in my dictionary, because he is my life. It is forever and ever "OURS."
Listed above are only some of the beliefs about love. Love is blind; it hurts... Regardless of all the sayings of love, a very important thing to remember is: love is what one believes it to be. No common metaphor or dictionary definition can describe what one's feelings of love are. It is that person alone who has to discover what love truly means. I discovered it the day the Lord placed my true love so perfectly in my path, it was love at first sight. I can truly say and believe the saying "love at first sight" because it happened to us. I hope the Lord allows an opportunity for each and everyone one of you in this room today a chance to spend the rest of your life with your certain soul mate. I persuade each and every one of you to cherish every moment you have with that person and to not be afraid to take that risk. That risk could turn out to be the best decision that you could make in a life time. This is dedicated to my husband, you are my inspiration for all I do. You are the love of my life and my reason for waking up every morning. You are the one that made me believe "without love, I have nothing." Because without you baby, I am nothing. Thank you.
