We waited
My new husband and I had just finished clearing away the last of the dishes from our wedding reception. We had opted to do our own clean up to save money for the honeymoon, a dream trip to Hawaii that we had been planning for over a year. As we drove to the hotel, where our marriage would be consummated, I could not help but think about the journey that had brought us to this point in our relationship, and I could also not help but feel nervous. Neither one of us had engaged in sexual activity before. We had only kissed and, while that had been passionate and had told us that there were sure to be sparks when we took things further, I could not help but think about how awkward the upcoming night could be. He must have noticed my nervous expression, because he turned to me and gave me the most comforting smile, one that held so many promises of a bright future. He squeezed my hand and, after driving up to the hotel, turned off the car and opened my door for me. He took my hand again and led me up to the hotel, where we entered our room together, hand in hand, ready to begin our life as a married couple.
