Title: "Sex is good" Author: Unknown
SEXXXXX OH YEAH
Tattooing is damaging your body and your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit....
This objection is coming from the verse in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
The direct context of this verse is talking about sexual immorality, and how sexual sin is a sin against your own body. However, based on this we see, that we shouldn't do things that damage our bodies... So glorify God in your body.
But this is very subjective, how do you define damaging you body? Eating a lot of red meat, drinking lots of coffee, not getting a lot sleep, and not working out regularly can damage your body also, especially over the long run, leading to major health problems. So where do we draw the line. I think this falls into the grey area of Christian living. Take care of yourself, can mean a lot of things for a lot of different people. So by all means, take care of yourself, set up a regiment and stick to it, but please don't impose it on others and become a legalist. And whos to say that putting art work on your body that points to Christ, isn't glorifying God in your body? I look at it this way, when you hang a beautiful picture; you have to hammer a nail into the wall. Is that nail damaging the wall, maybe, but what's hanging from it is worth the damage.
